The Government of Canada is making smart investments that lead to shared growth and create opportunities and jobs for the middle class and those working hard to join it.
Finance Minister Bill Morneau met with business leaders from the Brampton Chamber of Commerce this morning with local members of Parliament to highlight the Government's plan to build a stronger middle class through investments in people (tax cuts for the middle class, the Canada Child Benefit, education, and skills training), in our communities (housing, roads, bridges and green infrastructure) and in our economy (innovation, smart cities and digital). The Government is working to create middle class jobs and more opportunities to succeed in the economy of tomorrow.
Later today, Minister Morneau will tour the Carpenter's Union Training Facility in Vaughan where he will talk about how the Government is working to build confidence in the middle class, and create a healthy and growing economy in which businesses generate well-paying jobs.
As part of this work, the Government is taking action to improve the fairness of Canada's tax system.
The Government's ambitious plan will create jobs, build modern, resilient neighbourhoods and communities, grow our economy, and provide more opportunities for the middle class and those working hard to join it.
"Our Government is building a strong middle class and growing the economy over the long term. Our approach is working. In the past year, more than 300,000 jobs have been created and the unemployment rate has fallen to its lowest point since the 2008 global financial crisis. But there is more work to do, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to continuing our good work together in promoting shared growth here in the Greater Toronto Area, across Canada and around the world."
