March 7, 2017 – Ottawa, Ontario – Department of Finance Canada
The Government of Canada continues its plan to help middle class families and grow the economy by making smart investments in the things that matter most: good, well-paying jobs, healthy living, strong communities and better opportunities for our kids and grandkids.
Finance Minister Bill Morneau delivered this message today in the House of Commons, where he announced that the Government's federal budget will be tabled on March 22, 2017.
The Government of Canada is committed to growing the middle class, and positioning Canada for success in the new, more innovative economy of tomorrow. Budget 2017 will continue the Government's focus on the middle class and those working hard to join it.
Minister Morneau's announcement follows record participation in the annual pre-budget consultations. More than a million people were engaged, and over 29,000 submissions and ideas were received. On February 6, 2017, the Minister's Advisory Council on Economic Growth also published its second wave of recommendations.
"Canadians are talented, skilled and creative people. Our plan will give them the tools and support they need to make their mark in the economy of tomorrow, while ensuring that the success we create together is shared by the middle class, and those working hard to join it."
