Parliamentary Secretary Champagne Highlights Canada’s Plan for Growth and the Importance of Canada-U.S. Trade in Boston
June 9, 2016 – Boston, Massachusetts – Department of Finance Canada
The Government of Canada is committed to strengthening Canada’s place in the world through a proactive and positive approach, and by working with our partners to advance trade, innovation and clean energy in order to improve the lives of middle class families and all Canadians.
In a speech to the spring conference of the New England Economic Partnership in Boston, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance François-Philippe Champagne underlined the importance of Canada-U.S. trade, and of Canada’s enduring role as a strong, reliable partner. He also took the opportunity to highlight the Government’s upcoming Innovation Agenda, and to congratulate the Canadian Technology Accelerator in Boston (CTA@Boston) team for winning the International Business Innovation Association’s (InBIA) 2016 Accelerator Program of the Year Award.
In his speech, Parliamentary Secretary Champagne described the Government’s approach to revitalizing the Canadian economy and growing the middle class, while maintaining a low debt burden.
“Canada and the United States share the deepest of bonds, with an unparalleled trade relationship where $1.27 million in goods and services are exchanged every minute. The Government of Canada will continue to strengthen our ties in innovation and in clean growth through our long-term Growth Strategy, which will result in a more prosperous economy for both Canadians and Americans.”
