The Honourable Andrew Saxton, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance, met with business representatives, community leaders and academics for a pre-budget consultation today in Vancouver. This was the fourth in a series of events across Canada in which Canadians have been invited to contribute to the budget process.
“Our Government’s number one priority is the economy, and ensuring a strong and prosperous future for Canada,” said Mr. Saxton. “Consultations with Canadians right across the country, including job creators, families, and individuals, have shaped the Economic Action Plan, and will continue to do so going forward.”
In addition to the series of pre-budget roundtables, which are also being hosted by Minister of Finance Jim Flaherty and Minister of State (Finance) Kevin Sorenson, Canadians are invited to submit their views online.
“By protecting the economy and keeping taxes low our Government is squarely focused on creating jobs and opportunities for Canadians,” said Mr. Saxton. “Through consultations with Canadians in British Columbia and across the country, we are asking for Canadians to provide their ideas on how to solidify our economic recovery and position our country to compete and succeed over the long term.”
