The Honourable Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance, today tabled an annual report describing Canada’s activities at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group. Minister Flaherty is Canada’s Governor at both institutions.
“I am pleased to present to Parliament and Canadians this annual report detailing Canada’s activities at the IMF and World Bank Group, which play critical roles in the global economy,” said Minister Flaherty. “As a major shareholder at both institutions, Canada helps provide the leadership necessary to ensure that both organizations function in an effective, efficient, transparent and accountable manner, and achieve real results that strengthen the global economy, reduce poverty and promote prosperity around the world.”
To support accountability to Canadians, the Government is enhancing the timeliness of its reporting on Canadian priorities and activities at the IMF and World Bank by aligning the tabling of its annual report to Parliament and the public with the report on development assistance, tabled annually in the Fall.
