The Honourable Kevin Sorenson, Minister of State (Finance), will engage business representatives, community leaders and academics in a pre-budget roundtable discussion today in Moncton. This is the third of a cross-Canada series of events in which the Harper Government is directly involving Canadians in the Economic Action Plan 2014 decision-making process.
“With these consultations, Canadians can make their voices heard on how best to create and support the conditions necessary for our businesses, families and communities to continue to grow and prosper,” said Minister Sorenson. “This why our Government continues to turn to them for advice that will support our core priorities of creating jobs, securing economic growth in the midst of a fragile and uncertain global economy, and returning to budget balance in 2015.”
In addition to the series of pre-budget roundtables, which will also be hosted by Minister of Finance Jim Flaherty and Parliamentary Secretary Andrew Saxton, Canadians are invited to submit their views online.
“I firmly believe that Canadians should have their say in how we reach these important goals, since we all have a stake in achieving them”, said Minister Sorenson. “I look forward to engaging this diverse group of individuals from Atlantic Canada and across the country in this important dialogue.”
