Shelly Glover, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance, today announced that she has concluded several pre-budget consultations in communities across Canada. These consultations were aimed at engaging Canadians in discussions about their priorities and ideas for achieving the best use of taxpayers’ dollars in the lead-up to the 2013 budget.

“Our Government’s top priority continues to be creating jobs, growth and long-term prosperity, with a return to balanced budgets by the end of this Parliament,” said Parliamentary Secretary Glover. “These consultations were an invaluable contribution to this important task.”

Parliamentary Secretary Glover held consultations with community and business leaders to hear their ideas on how to solidify Canada’s economic recovery and position Canada to compete and prosper over the long term. The consultations were held in Saskatoon on January 7; Montréal on January 8; Thompson, Manitoba on January 9; and Winnipeg on January 10.

The Government will continue to consult Canadians as it prepares the 2013 budget and invites all Canadians to contribute to the discussion through the online consultation form on the Department of Finance website.
