The Honourable Ted Menzies, Minister of State (Finance), today took part in a pre-budget roundtable in Calgary with community and business leaders. This consultation is just one in a series of events in communities across the country aimed at engaging Canadians in discussions about their priorities and ideas for achieving the best use of taxpayers’ dollars in the lead-up to the 2013 budget.

“In the face of a fragile global economy, our Government will maintain our focus on supporting a strong economy and returning to balanced budgets before the end of this Parliament,” said Minister Menzies. “I am looking forward to meeting Canadians and hearing their ideas on how to solidify our economic recovery and position Canada to compete and prosper over the long term, while preserving our hard-won fiscal advantage.”

To ensure that all Canadians can participate in this process, the Harper Government has also launched online pre-budget consultations. Those interested in participating may do so through the Department of Finance website.

Cross-country consultations will continue into the new year, with venues and details to be announced as they become available.
