Archived - Minister Flaherty Urges Swift Passage of Jobs and Growth Act, 2012

The Honourable Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance, today urged all Members of Parliament to support the Jobs and Growth Act, 2012, now that the parliamentary committee examining the bill has completed its work.

“This legislation is very important in maintaining our Government’s focus on jobs, growth and long-term prosperity for Canadians,” said Minister Flaherty. “We encourage all Members to support the pro-growth measures it contains.”

The legislation will implement key measures from the March budget, Economic Action Plan 2012. It will promote business innovation and trade, and create job opportunities for all Canadians, including Aboriginal people and people with disabilities.

The legislation will also preserve Canada’s strong financial sector and will help the Government to achieve its objective to return to balanced budgets before the end of this Parliament.
