The Honourable Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance, today announced the appointment of Ms. Angela Tu Weissenberger to the Board of Directors of the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC).
“I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Tu Weissenberger to the Board of CDIC,” said Minister Flaherty. “With her extensive professional experience in the financial sector, she is an ideal choice for an organization that is essential to a strong financial system in Canada.”
Ms. Tu Weissenberger is a senior economics professional and founder of ATW Associates, Inc. She has significant experience as an advisor for the financial services industry, as well as in-depth experience working with the energy industry.
CDIC is a federal Crown corporation established in 1967 to provide deposit insurance against the loss, in whole or in part, of deposits with member institutions in the event of their failure. Member institutions include banks, trust companies and loan companies.

Angela Tu Weissenberger
Ms. Angela Tu Weissenberger is the founder and president of ATW Associates, Inc., a strategy consulting firm that has been providing economic, financial and policy advice to clients in banking, energy, industrials and government for 10 years.
Prior to founding ATW Associates, Ms. Tu Weissenberger spent the previous 10 years working for RBC Royal Bank Financial Group. She held various positions, including Group Head of Global Energy Research, where she led a team of analysts responsible for energy project risk assessment.
Ms. Tu Weissenberger graduated from the University of Calgary with a Master of Arts in economics in 1988 and a Bachelor of Arts in economics in 1984.
