The Honourable Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance, will meet with the Group of Twenty (G-20) Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors in Paris this weekend to discuss actions being taken to address global economic uncertainty.
“A strong and coordinated international response continues to be key to addressing the renewed challenges facing the global economy,” said Minister Flaherty.
G-20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors will follow up on their September 22 meeting in Washington. The purpose of the meeting is to develop a credible and comprehensive action plan of coordinated policies to address these challenges. The action plan will be submitted to G-20 Leaders at the Cannes Summit in early November.
“At the height of the global financial crisis, the G-20 demonstrated that countries could work together to deal with global instability. This organization must once again send a clear signal to the world that it is ready to take the strong actions necessary to maintain future growth and stability for all,” said Minister Flaherty.
