The Honourable Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance, today hosted a pre-budget consultation in Regina, Saskatchewan, with Canadian business, academic and other leaders as part of a series of discussions on how Canada’s Economic Action Plan will continue to shape the country’s economic future in Budget 2011.
“The recommendations made during the consultations will help shape the next phase of the Government’s Economic Action Plan and the return to fiscal balance,” said Minister Flaherty. “Importantly, we will continue to follow the vigilant and responsible approach that has put Canada in a position that many other countries can only envy.”
These pre-budget consultations complement the broad economic consultations that the Prime Minister and individual Members of Parliament are conducting across the country to listen to Canadians. The Minister’s consultations include a number of roundtables with Canadians and continued consultation with his Economic Advisory Council.
As part of efforts to listen to a wide variety of opinions, the Government is also conducting online consultations. Those wishing to make submissions can do so by visiting http://www.fin.gc.ca/prebudget-prebudgetaire/1-eng.asp.
