The Honourable Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance, today announced the appointment of Gregory K. Melchin as Chair and John McBride as CEO of PPP Canada (P3C).
"I am very pleased to appoint two accomplished people to lead PPP Canada," said Minister Flaherty. "With their extensive experience in the public and private sector, and their background in policy development, both Mr. Melchin and Mr. McBride are the right choices to develop this new Crown corporation."
Mr. Melchin has been a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, where his portfolios included Minister of Seniors and Community Supports, Minister of Energy and Minister of Revenue. His business experience includes Chief Financial Officer for Karl Oil & Gas/Cumorah Construction, Vice-President of Finance for Torode Realty Ltd., and CFO and Director of Adcorp Enterprises Ltd.
Mr. McBride is currently the Executive Vice-President of the Canadian International Development Agency. His experience includes serving as President and CEO of the Canadian Commercial Corporation, as Assistant Deputy Minister and Associate Assistant Deputy Minister at Industry Canada, and as an Executive Director at the Treasury Board Secretariat.
PPP Canada is a Crown corporation that was recently established to work with the public and private sector to support public-private partnerships (P3s) and to encourage the further development of Canada's P3 market.

Gregory K. Melchin, CA, FCA
Mr. Melchin was the member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta for Calgary-North West from 1997 to March of this year. While in the Legislature, he held a number of Ministerial positions, including Minister of Seniors and Community Supports, Minister of Energy and Minister of Revenue.
Mr. Melchin's previous experience includes serving as Chief Financial Officer for Karl Oil & Gas/Cumorah Construction, Vice President of Finance for Torode Realty Ltd., and Senior Accountant for Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co., Chartered Accountants.
Mr. Melchin is a graduate of Brigham Young University, located in Provo, Utah, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree, with a major in Accounting. He received his Chartered Accountant designation in 1980 and his Fellow Chartered Accountant designation in 2004.
John McBride, BComm
Mr. McBride has been the Executive Vice-President of the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) since 2007, where he has worked with the President of CIDA to develop international policies and programs for investing more than $3 billion annually in more than 50 countries.
Mr. McBride's past experience includes serving as President and CEO of the Canadian Commercial Corporation and as Assistant Deputy Minister and Associate Assistant Deputy Minister at Industry Canada. While at Industry, he was responsible for maintaining an efficient and socially responsible marketplace for business and consumers, regional departmental programs and infrastructure programs in Ontario.
A Commerce graduate of Carleton University in Ottawa, Mr. McBride was awarded the University Medal in Commerce as the top graduating student in 1984.
