The Honourable Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance, today announced the appointment of Daniel Johnson to the Board of Directors of the Bank of Canada.
Mr. Johnson, a legal counsel in the Montréal office of McCarthy Tétrault, is a former Premier of the Province of Quebec who held office as a Member of the National Assembly of Quebec for more than 17 years. His appointment is effective immediately.

The Bank of Canada is Canada's central bank. Its responsibilities focus on the goals of low and stable inflation, a safe and secure currency, financial stability, and the efficient management of government funds and public debt.
