Canadians are saddened by the passing of a great Canadian, Ed Mirvish. He was a giving and compassionate man whose contribution to Toronto and Canada is unparalleled.
Mr. Mirvish came from a humble beginning and worked hard to achieve success in all his endeavours. This talented entrepreneur created "Honest Ed's" which became a city landmark offering regular giveaways to people throughout the community. This passionate businessman also made an important mark in the arts community by establishing a theatre network that made Toronto one of the most important cultural centres in North America.
Mr. Mirvish was also a well-recognized philanthropist. His success in business in our community was matched by his generosity in giving back to it.
Ed Mirvish was a true visionary whose determination and kindness inspired a generation. On behalf of all Canadians and Canada's New Government I would like to offer my condolences to the Mirvish family.
