Minister of Finance Ralph Goodale today announced the appointment of Thomas J. Rice to the Board of Directors of the Bank of Canada.
"Mr. Rice brings extensive business experience and a strong financial background to his new role" Minister Goodale said. "I am pleased to welcome him and I look forward to his contribution to the Board of the Bank of Canada."
Mr. Rice, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, is the founder of Rice Financial Group and Rice Capital Management - now Jovian Capital Corporation, of which he is the Chairman. Jovian is a company with interests in a number of financial services and wealth management firms. Companies under the Jovian umbrella manage more than $8 billion in client assets through more than 87 locations across Canada. Mr. Rice also serves as a board member of the Brandon University Foundation in Brandon, Manitoba.
The Bank of Canada is Canada's central bank. Its responsibilities focus on the goals of low and stable inflation, a safe and secure currency, financial stability, and the efficient management of government funds and public debt.
