The Honourable Denis Paradis

Denis Paradis was first elected in a February 1995 by-election.  Most recently, he served as Secretary of State (Latin America and Africa)(Francophonie).  Mr. Paradis also served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and to the Minister for International Cooperation and Minister responsible for La Francophonie.  He served as Vice-Chair of the Standing Committees on Public Accounts, Health, and Official Languages.  He was the founding Chair of the Canada-Belgium Inter-Parliamentary Group.

Prior to entering public life, Mr. Paradis taught and practiced law.  He received a Bachelor of Commerce and a law degree from the University of Ottawa.
